Four bus manufacturers are still up for the new Routemaster project for London set up by Travel for London (TFL).

EvoBus and Scania, two of the six manufacturers who pre-qualified to develop and build Transport for London’s (TFL) ’New bus for London’, have decided to pull out of the project. Neither has submitted tenders for the August 14 deadline. Both cited short timescales involved given the huge amount of development work required and other on-going vehicle projects. UK companies Alexander Dennis, Optare and Wrightbus are together with Spanish company Hispano tendering for the ambitious project. The winning contracter is set to be announced by the end of 2009, with the first bus on the road for 2011.
